ABOUT THE SCHOOL

"This is more than a training.
It is a becoming."

— The Abhyāsa School of Yoga

Ancient
wisdom,
living ground

The Abhyasa School of Yoga is a yoga school based in the beautiful grounds of Smasati, Costa Rica.

The school offers teacher trainings and continued development for those who want to train to be certified teachers or those seeking to deepen their knowledge of yoga and the path of holistic wellbeing.

The school has a rich curriculum and maintains connections with the Indian tradition, incorporating modern holistic approaches of self-healing and awareness with ancient Indian technologies of liberation and enlightenment.

The school offers students a learning experience that is immersive within the path, practice and philosophy of yoga. Here on retreat for 30 days you will get the chance to be in a deep learning experience, whilst also having time for integration and to enjoy the natural surroundings.

The Four Foundations

Earth · Water · Fire · Air

The school is built on these four elements, the broad spectrum of human experience and the fifth, spirit, which carries them all.

🜃

Earth — Prthivī

Meet the body with wisdom. Honour it through movement, rest, nourishment and a supportive environment that allows you to root deeply.

🜄

Water — Jala

Be present to the fluctuations of life. Develop the capacity for compassion, fluidity and the courage to remain in the heart.

🜂

Fire — Agni

Cultivate discipline, devotion and spiritual growth. Call on the fire when courage and determination are needed most.

🜁

Air — Vāyu

Access intelligence free from constraint. Feed or empty the mind and rise toward connection with the knowledge of Source itself.
